Production Location

Renaissance Farms is an historically important location, available for television, film, and print projects.

The 6000 sq ft. house was originally built in 1860, rebuilt or added to in 1900. It is currently under complete restoration.  Many original details have been preserved, including mirrored mantels, fir flooring, cast iron clawfoot tubs, two built-in cabinets, and beautiful four-panel doors.  Others have been or will be replaced with historically accurate reproductions. These include push-button switches, mechanical door bells, and all wood 2-over-1 windows.

There is a large dairy barn built in the 70s, still in use on the property.  The land comprises hilltop and bottom land, a stream, a small pond, open fields and woodland.  It is located at the end of a quarter-mile long private road.  Because the land is preserved from development, it will always be the only home on the street, and ensures greater security for your project.  There is ample room for vehicles to park, with electrical service in two additional locations, separate from the house and barn.  Two miles of groomed trails, and two established farm roads allow excellent access to every corner of the property.

Open fields boast beautiful views in every direction, many with no discernible modern buildings in sight.  This lends the property well to shoots for any time period – from medieval to modern.

The town of Barre is quintessentially New England with a center common and many family-owned shops.  It’s still very rural, quiet, and private.  We have four distinct seasons – snowy winters, blossomed springs, lush green summers, and vibrant autumns.

We’re about 20 minutes to Worcester, an hour and ten minutes to Boston.  There is a heliport and small airport in Barre and a slightly larger airport running commercial and private flights in Worcester.  Overnight accommodation for cast and crew is available in Barre and surrounding towns, with larger hotel chains located 20-30 minutes away in Worcester and Auburn.  For rental properties in the area, we recommend contacting Susan Tittle at Olde Village Realty Partners.
